Uma (horse) tsuba

This gorgeous iron plate has wonderfully rendered raised gold and shakudo lines representing horses (uma) in motion. It has long been a favorite of mine and in my own collection. The iron plate has a rich patina and the horses are wonderfully done. I kept having fantasies of finding the perfect sword for this tsuba for mounting. But over the years it has just sat in my safe instead. Now it is time for them to find a new home...

The tsuba is just over 3" tall by 3" wide. It would fit an average katana or a wakizashi. Or better yet, simply admired for the craftsmanship. Please notice the detail in the horse tail and mane.
